Essbee’s Opinion

As I started watching this drama, I knew that I would LOVE it! The plot was very interesting. Even though I realized very early that some parts were very draggy, it didn’t annoy me so much. This drama is also a collaboration between China and Taiwan, so the actors have all kinds of accents.

To start off, Mike He is getting old… but I’m not prepared to see him as a father! Yes, he’s a daddy AND an arrogant CEO. He has been the bad boy, the evil younger brother, the hot basketball player, the poor super star and now, he’s a divorced father. I really loved his character because we see his psychological development. Even though we think that he’s a cold-blooded boss, we discover that he is only like this at work. On the other side, Janine Chang is the hardworking woman. I think that she looks really young in this drama, but she’s adorable! Of course, these two hate each other at first, but somehow, they would sign a fake-marriage contract.

Then, there is the younger brother. He is extremely talented and smart, but he thinks that he doesn’t get the reward he should. He would try to steal his brother’s place and become the CEO with the help of his fiancée, whom he “uses” for business. Throughout the drama, he will discover that the hate he had for his brother was wrong and there is a strong evolution of this character, especially when he starts to have feelings for his sister-in-law. This fiancée is the usual antagonist we love to hate: pretty but hateful. At the moment we see her, we know that’s she’s the usual rich princess who only thinks of herself. Her jealousy will bring a lot misadventures to the others, especially Yong Yong.

The other important character is Yun Jie’s ex-wife, Wang Lan. She’s very nice at first. Even though if she stands as an antagonist, her character was lovable and it is always touching to see a mother’s love. As a single mother, she would have to face a difficult choice between her job or her child. Even though she went through 8 years of hardship, she couldn’t take it anymore, when her first love rejects her again. Si Han is her co-work and a very good friend. It is obvious that he loves her, but she won’t accept him because her memories stays in the past. This character should be a charming one, but I found him really annoying, especially when he punched Yun Jie (hum, don’t you dare punching Mike He ever again!). The final character I have to mention is Xiao Nian, the little boy. He is very mature, but no matter how, he’s a kid. I have seen better kid-actors than him, but he was still excellent.

The story is a little like a mix of a lot of dramas, but it is not cumbersome and things develop quite smoothly. The progress is also fast enough, to not get bored. The length was very suitable and the ending did not suck, which means that I liked the whole drama in general. The 5 songs that support this drama are very pretty too!
